We are very fortunate to have a home that is perfect for our pet family. Especially the dogs! Our fenced backyard is a playground for our canines. Our sons love to play Frisbee and fetch with the dogs. The boys throw tennis balls with all their might and they never reach the back fence! The dogs love to frolic through the raspberries and a game of chase always seems to be on the agenda for the day.
We keep our dogs safe and sound when we need to leave the house. We have three large kennels in the basement with doggie doors to an outside run. We take great comfort that they are safe and secure until we return.
One of my favorite features in the house is our Puppy Palace. We enjoy having our own dog bath readily available at our convenience. This is a comfortable room, which we can maintain a constant temperature that is monitored 24/7 for our puppy’s utmost health. We use the fluorescent lighting while cleaning the pen and checking on mama and the babies. The warm glow of the heat lamp at all other times to keep Halle and her puppies calm and comfortable.
Mike built a whelping pen that is specifically designed for our puppies’ safety and comfort. The puppy guardrail protects the babies from mom accidentally lying on them, which could result in suffocation. The melamine boards are quick to clean and disinfect. The pen is designed to be 2 inches off the floor to prevent drafts. The side rails are 18 inches tall to ensure the puppies don’t wander. He even put a seat on every corner for puppy observation!
